Overview

The single most important factor in any partner visa application is the evidence of your relationship. A lack of sufficient, well-organised evidence is the most common reason for refusal. I offer a specialised service focused solely on helping you understand, gather, and present the evidence of your relationship in the most compelling way possible. This service is for those who want to be confident that their evidence meets the Department's high standards.

The Department of Home Affairs assesses your relationship across four key areas: financial aspects, the nature of the household, social aspects, and the nature of your commitment. My role is to demystify these categories and provide you with practical, actionable advice on what documents and information to collect for each one. I help you think like a case officer, identifying potential weaknesses in your evidence and finding ways to strengthen them.

This service goes beyond a simple checklist. I conduct a deep dive into your relationship history and circumstances. I help you brainstorm evidence you may not have considered, such as social media history, travel itineraries, and statements from a wide range of friends and family. I also provide detailed guidance on writing your personal relationship statements (statutory declarations), which are a cornerstone of the application. I ensure your statements are detailed, heartfelt, and address all the key criteria.

Whether you are preparing for a de facto, married, or prospective marriage application, this focused service can be the difference between success and failure. It can be engaged as a standalone service if you plan to lodge the application yourself, or as the foundational first step before I proceed with full representation. Investing in getting your evidence right from the start saves time, money, and immense stress.

What I Do

  • A detailed consultation to understand the specifics of your relationship history.
  • A personalised evidence plan tailored to your circumstances.
  • Guidance on documenting each of the four pillars: financial, household, social, and commitment.
  • A workshop on writing compelling personal statements and statutory declarations.
  • A review of your collected evidence to identify gaps and suggest improvements.
  • Advice on how to present your evidence in a clear, organised, and easy-to-understand format for the case officer.
  • Strategies for addressing potential red flags, such as age differences, cultural differences, or short periods of cohabitation.

Who Is This For?

  • Couples at the beginning of their partner visa journey who want to start collecting the right evidence.
  • DIY applicants who want an expert review of their evidence before they lodge.
  • Couples with complex circumstances who need creative solutions for documenting their relationship.
  • Anyone who feels overwhelmed by the evidence requirements and needs clear, expert guidance.

Common questions about

What is the most important piece of evidence?+
There is no single 'magic bullet'. A strong application relies on a wide variety of evidence across all four pillars. Consistency is key. However, evidence of financial co-mingling, such as a joint bank account with regular activity, is often considered very strong.
How far back should our evidence go?+
You should provide evidence from the beginning of your de facto relationship or marriage. For the second stage application, you need to cover the two-year period since the first application. It's about telling the entire story.
Is it better to have too much evidence or too little?+
It is better to have too much relevant evidence than too little. However, it must be well-organised. A mountain of disorganised, irrelevant documents can frustrate a case officer. My job is to help you find the right balance and present it clearly.
Can you just write the relationship statements for us?+
No, the statements must be personal and in your own words. However, I provide extensive guidance, templates, and feedback to help you write the most effective statements possible. I help you find your voice and tell your story in a way that meets the legal requirements.

Your Visa Was Refused — What Now?

I wrote a free guide covering the 5 most common refusal reasons, your appeal options, and the deadlines you cannot miss. It is the same advice I give clients in their first meeting.
